60 min- For people who are new and curious to massage or those looking to relax with no specific pain complaints. 60 minutes also works well for busy people with a specific pain complaint who do not mind skipping other portions of the body unrelated to their pain.
90 min- For anyone who has areas of specific concerns but would also like to get their whole body massaged. This also provides more time to relax for people who have difficulty fully relaxing in a short 60 minute session or just want the special treat of a little extra time!
120 min- For anyone who have multiple complaints or a complex complaint with overlapping issues. 120 minute sessions are also ideal for those with complicated stress situations in their lives or those who want to indulge in a luxurious escape!
Types of Massages
- Prenatal*– This style of massage is intended for pregnant women first trimester-to 2 weeks before expected delivery. Prenatal massage is designed to provide comfort for the client’s body as they progress throughout pregnancy. Immediate benefits include reduction of muscle cramps and tension, improved circulation, reduced stress on joints, and reduced swelling in extremities.
Studies suggest that prenatal massage may even reduce risk of preterm labor, reduce need for pain medication during labor, and help promote healthy fetal development via improved blood flow to the fetus.
* * I do not currently have qualifications for high risk pregnancies, but I do have contacts available for these needs.
- Swedish– This is a gentle all purpose massage focused on stress reduction. Movements are smooth, flowing, or kneading to provide the benefits of relaxation, a decreased muscle tension, improved circulation, and a sense of well -restedness.
Deep tissue- Deep tissue uses concentrated pressure and slow strokes to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Contrary to popular belief, deep tissue does not have to be painful or exceptionally forceful. I will happily accommodate clients ‘ comfort using stretching and strategic angles to obtain depth without crossing the pain threshold from “the good hurt” to discomfort.
Add-On’s
- Hot stone- This add on uses heated basalt stones as a tool for massage to enhance the massage experience. Heat helps dilate blood vessels for increased blood flow and to soften tissue to more comfortably work out contractures, trigger points, and other points of tension. This modality is not recommended to clients with health conditions that may make them sensitive to heat.
- Aromatherapy- This add on provides the benefits of an essential oil of your choice to your massage both via scent and via direct contact with the skin.
Reflexology– Reflexology is an ancient Chinese medicine method using acupressure to specific points in the feet that correspond with other disparate parts of the body. Reflexology is believed to provide stimulation or soothing to systems of the body which are not functioning as the should in a healthy painless body.
